Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) Solicitation

The National Institute of Corrections and the Urban Institute are pleased to solicit applications for four new Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) Initiative sites. The TJC Initiative is a model approach for jails and local communities to collaboratively address the reentry challenges faced by individuals returning from jail in order to enhance public safety and improve reintegration outcomes. Beginning in September 2009, four jurisdictions will receive TJC technical assistance over two years. The application for prospective sites will be available May 1, 2009, and must be submitted by June 15, 2009. The application (available at the TJC project website, www.jailtransition.com) provides useful background and outlines the requirements for jurisdictions to be considered for selection. There will be a webinar for prospective applicants on May 14, at 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time (see details at the TJC website).
