Financial Obligations

People often come out of prison or jail with large amounts of debt, including court fines, supervision fees, victim restitution, and child support. Policymakers must develop strategies to increase accountability among people who commit crimes, improve rates of child support collection and victim restitution, and help people released from prison or jail manage competing financial obligations so that they can successfully complete their sentence.
